First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If difficulties occur after dust has been inhaled, remove to fresh air and seek medical attention.

Skin contact

Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Burns caused by molten material require hospital treatment.

Eye contact

In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately for at least 15 minutes with plenty of water. If irritation develops, seek medical attention.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth and then drink 200-300 ml of water. If difficulties occur: Seek medical attention.

Medical Treatment

Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

water spray, foam, dry powder

Unsuitable media

water jet

Specific hazards

At temperatures of > 290 °C can be emitted: carbon monoxide, tetrahydrofuran. Under special fire conditions traces of other toxic substances are possible. Formation of further decomposition and oxidation products depends upon the fire conditions.

Firefighter Protection

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Small spill

Pick up with suitable appliance and dispose of.

Large spill

Pick up with suitable appliance and dispose of.

Environmental

No special precautions necessary.

Cleanup methods

For residues: Sweep/shovel up.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid inhalation of dusts/mists/vapours.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed and dry; store in a cool place.

Fire prevention

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

The limit values will not be achieved if the product is processed proper and suitable ventilation is provided.

Hands

Use additional heat protection gloves when handling hot molten masses (EN 407), e.g. of textile or leather.

Eyes

Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Respiratory

Breathing protection if breathable aerosols/dust are formed. Wear respiratory protection if ventilation is inadequate. (Particle filter EN 143 P2 or FFP2)

Skin/Body

Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).
