First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move exposed person to fresh air. Keep person warm and at rest. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist or are severe.

Symptoms: Unlikely to occur unless accidentally during use wipe may cause signs of inhalation.

Skin contact

Wash affected areas with soap and water. If effects persist seek medical advice. In the event of any complaints or symptoms, avoid further exposure. If irritation occurs rinse immediately with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing. Contact physician if irritation persists.

Symptoms: Redness or irritation

Eye contact

Wash out eye cautiously with copious amounts of water, holding the eye lid open, continue for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do so – continue rinsing. If any irritation persists, seek medical advice.

Symptoms: Irritation

Ingestion

Wash out mouth with water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Maintain an open airway. Do not induce vomiting. Obtain medical advice.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist or are severe. Contact poison treatment specialist immediately if unconsciousness appears with a user due to ingested or inhaled.

Medical Treatment

No specific treatment. Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water spray, fog or foam, dry chemical, CO₂. Use an extinguishing agent suitable for the surrounding fire.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Specific hazards

In a fire or if heated and in presence on air will increase fire. Prevent run off water from extinguishing media entering the sewers or water courses.

Instructions

Promptly isolate the scene by removing all persons from the vicinity of the incident if there is a fire. No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

Firefighter Protection

Fire-fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Avoid dispersal of spilled material from entering the sewers or water courses.

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Use in well ventilated areas. Avoid breathing vapours. Wear protective gloves when using the wipe.

Storage

Store product in accordance with local regulations. Store in original packs protected from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials (see section 10) and food and drink. Keep canisters tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Canisters that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Hands

Protection should be used for prolonged or repeated skin contact, use suitable protective gloves. Disposable gloves are recommended, butyl or nitrile disposable gloves. Hand protection (EN374) : No special protective equipment is required.

Eyes

Not necessary in normal use. If splashes are likely to occur, wear safety glasses. Eye and face protection (EN 166) : No special protective equipment is required.

Respiratory

Not necessary in normal use. Respiratory protection : None required if airborne concentrations are maintained below the exposure limit listed in Exposure Limit Information.

Skin/Body

Skin and body protection (EN 14605) : No special protective equipment is required.

Environmental

Avoid release to the environment. Users should be aware of environmental considerations and their duties under environmental protection act. Further information may be found on Government websites: www.dti.gov.uk/access/index.htm and www.envirowise.gov.uk. General advice : Consider the provision of containment around storage vessels.
