First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move the patient to fresh air. Give artificial respiration or oxygen if breathing is difficult. Seek medical attention.

Symptoms: No known effect.

Skin contact

Wash the affected area with water. Obtain medical attention if any irritation occurs. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Symptoms: No known effect.

Eye contact

Immediately flush the eye with plenty of water and continue for 10 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation occurs.

Symptoms: No known effect.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. Wash out the mouth with water. Seek medical attention.

Symptoms: No known effect.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Extinguish with water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical foam or polymer foam.

Firefighter Protection

Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Wear the recommended protection. Sweep up and place in correctly labelled containers. Avoid raising any dust. Any material not suitable for reuse should be held for authorised disposal. Ventilate the spillage area and wash the spill site after material collection.

Cleanup methods

Sweep up and place in correctly labelled containers.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Storage

Store in the original containers. Store away from heat in a dry place.

Fire prevention

Store away from heat

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use enclosed transfer systems or provide local exhaust ventilation where possible to avoid liberation of dust.

Hands

Impervious or dust proof gloves.

Eyes

Goggles. Advice on eye protection is given in EN 166.

Respiratory

Where dust is liberated during handling or transfer suitable respiratory equipment, using particulate filters, should be used. Selection should be based on the atmospheric concentration, and the duration of exposure. Advice on respiratory equipment is given in British Standard Numbers 4275 and standards EN 149, 405, 140 etc.

Skin/Body

Impervious or dust proof overalls.
