First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move victims into fresh air. If symptoms persist, call a physician. In case of difficulties in breathing, supply oxygen. Employ artificial respiration if breathing ceases. Consult a physician immediately.

Skin contact

Wash off with plenty of water and soap immediately. Continue flushing with polyethylene glycol 400. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Symptoms: Has skin-degreasing properties.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses if this can be easily done. Protect unharmed eye. See an eye specialist immediately.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting and seek medical advice immediately. Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water.

Immediate Medical Attention

Consult a physician immediately (inhalation). See an eye specialist immediately (eye). Seek medical advice immediately (ingestion).

Medical Treatment

Symptomatic treatment.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Water spray, foam, CO2, dry powder.

Unsuitable media

high volume water jet

Specific hazards

In case of fire cool endangered containers with water. Closed container may rupture if strongly heated. Heavier than air vapour. Formation of flammable or explosive vapour/air mixtures possible. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Firefighter Protection

In the case of respirable dust and/or fumes, use self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not inhale vapours / aerosols.

Environmental

Do not allow entrance in sewage water, drainage systems, stretches of water, soil. Avoid penetration into drainage system or in rooms situated at a lower level because of danger of explosion.

Cleanup methods

Take up mechanically or with an absorbent material. Fill into marked, sealable containers.

Materials: universal absorbent, diatomaceous earth, oil absorbent

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

The substance must be handled under strictly controlled conditions according to Article 18 of the REACH regulation: Product is only handled and chemically converted when tightly enclosed within a processing system. Use only trained personnel. Wear personal protective equipment; see section 8. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not inhale vapours / aerosols. Ensure sufficient ventilation. Handle and open container with care.

Storage

Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Fire prevention

Normal measures for preventive fire protection. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Ensure explosion proofness.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide for good ventilation if vapours/aerosols are formed.

Hands

Chemical-resistant protective gloves (EN 374). Glove material for example, butyl-rubber, Material thickness 0.5 mm, Break through time >= 480 min. Glove material for example, nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) gloves, Material thickness 0.35 mm, Break through time >= 480 min. Selection of protective gloves to meet the requirements of specific workplaces. Suitability for specific workplaces should be clarified with protective glove manufacturers.

Eyes

close-fitting protective goggles (e.g. closed goggles) or face protection

Respiratory

In case of dusts/vapours/aerosols being formed or if the limit values like TLV are exceeded: use respiratory equipment with suitable filter (filter type A) or wear a self contained respiratory apparatus

Skin/Body

Select materials and equipment for physical protection depending on the concentration and volume of hazardous substances and the workplace involved.

Environmental

see section 6.
