First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Consult a physician if necessary.

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/ attention. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Cool skin rapidly with cold water after contact with molten material. Do not peel solidified product off the skin. Burns must be treated by a physician.

Symptoms: Skin irritation or rash, burns, allergic skin reaction.

Eye contact

In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Get medical attention if symptoms occur. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Immediate Medical Attention

Consult a physician if necessary. Get medical advice/attention if skin irritation or rash occurs. Burns must be treated by a physician. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Water spray Foam Dry powder Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Unsuitable media

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Instructions

In case of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.

Firefighter Protection

Wear an approved positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus in addition to standard fire fighting gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Avoid breathing dust/ fume/ gas/ mist/ vapours/ spray. Ensure adequate ventilation. Material can create slippery conditions. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained.

Environmental

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Avoid release to the environment. Collect spillage.

Cleanup methods

Contain spillage, soak up with non-combustible absorbent material, and transfer to a container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section 13).

Materials: sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing dust/ fume/ gas/ mist/ vapours/ spray. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.

Storage

Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Hygiene

Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Good general ventilation (typically 10 air changes per hour) should be used. Ventilation rates should be matched to conditions. If applicable, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels below recommended exposure limits. If exposure limits have not been established, maintain airborne levels to an acceptable level.

Hands

For prolonged or repeated contact use protective gloves. After contamination with product change the gloves immediately and dispose of them according to relevant national and local regulations. When handling hot material, use heat resistant gloves.

Eyes

Safety eyewear complying with an approved standard should be used when a risk assessment indicates this is necessary to avoid exposure to liquid splashes, mists, gases or dusts. Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles).

Respiratory

If engineering controls do not maintain airborne concentrations below recommended exposure limits (where applicable) or to an acceptable level (in countries where exposure limits have not been established), an approved respirator must be worn.

Skin/Body

Personal protective equipment for the body should be selected based on the task being performed and the risks involved and should be approved by a specialist before handling this product. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use.
