First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Skin contact

WASH IN LARGE QUANTITIES OF WATER. CONSULT A PHYSICIAN IN CASE OF EXTENDED CONTACT

Eye contact

RINSE THE EYES IMMEDIATELY DURING SEVERAL MINUTES IN RUNNING WATER, WIDENING THE EYELIDS. CONSULT A PHYSICIAN IF THE SYMPTOMS PERSIST.

Ingestion

RINSE THE MOUTH ABUNDANTLY AND DRINK WATER IN PROPORTION TO THE QUANTITY INGESTED. DO NOT MAKE THE SUBJECT VOMIT. CONSULT A PHYSICIAN.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (EYEGLASSES, GLOVES, PROTECTIVE CLOTHING) OBLIGATORY

Large spill

A LARGE QUANTITY EVACUATED IN THE DRAINS MAY CAUSE A SATURATION OF THE SYSTEM OR A DURABLE REDUCTION OF DISSOLVED OXYGEN IN THE RECEIVING LIQUID VEIN. AVOID UNCONTROLLED DUMPING OF LARGE QUANTITIES IN WATERCOURSES, WASTEWATERS, SURFACE WATERS.

Environmental

THE MATERIAL BEING BIODEGRADABLE AND FERMENTABLE, A LARGE QUANTITY EVACUATED IN THE DRAINS MAY CAUSE A SATURATION OF THE SYSTEM OR A DURABLE REDUCTION OF DISSOLVED OXYGEN IN THE RECEIVING LIQUID VEIN. AVOID UNCONTROLLED DUMPING OF LARGE QUANTITIES IN WATERCOURSES, WASTEWATERS, SURFACE WATERS. PROTECT ZONE INVOLVED FROM RAINWATER AND SURFACE RUNOFF.

Cleanup methods

SUCK OR RETAIN THE SPILLED PRODUCT IF POSSIBLE BY MAINTAINING A TANK; IMMOBILIZE WITH ANY BULKY ABSORBENT SUCH AS SAWDUST, SAND, PEAT. COLLECT MECHANICALLY THE MAJOR PART OF THE SPILLED PRODUCT AND ELIMINATE IT OR RECYCLE IT DEPENDING ON USAGE AND THE FORM OF COLLECTION AUTHORIZED. WASH AND RINSE THE AREA ABUNDANTLY WITH WATER WHILE AVOIDING DISCHARGE INTO THE SEWERS.

Materials: SAWDUST, SAND, PEAT

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (EYEGLASSES, GLOVES, PROTECTIVE CLOTHING) RECOMMENDED.

Storage

STORE SHIELDED FROM THE LIGHT IN A FRESH (COOL) AND DRY PLACE.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

HANDLE WITH GLOVES. GLOVES MUST BE INSPECTED PRIOR TO USE. USE PROPER GLOVE REMOVAL TECHNIQUE (WITHOUT TOUCHING GLOVE'S OUTER SURFACE) TO AVOID SKIN CONTACT WITH THIS PRODUCT. DISPOSE OF CONTAMINATED GLOVES AFTER USE IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE LAWS AND GOOD LABORATORY PRACTICES. WASH AND DRY HANDS. THE SELECTED PROTECTIVE GLOVES HAVE TO SATISFY THE SPECIFICATIONS OF EU DIRECTIVE 89/686/EEC AND THE STANDARD EN 374 DERIVED FROM IT.

Eyes

SAFETY GLASSES WITH SIDE-SHIELDS CONFORMING TO EN166. USE EQUIPMENT FOR EYE PROTECTION TESTED AND APPROVED UNDER APPROPRIATE GOVERNMENT STANDARDS SUCH AS NIOSH (US) OR EN 166(EU).

Respiratory

WEAR DUST MASK WHEN HANDLING LARGE QUANTITIES.

Skin/Body

WEAR IMPERVIOUS CLOTHING. THE TYPE OF PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT MUST BE SELECTED ACCORDING TO THE CONCENTRATION AND AMOUNT OF THE DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE AT THE SPECIFIC WORKPLACE.
