First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove casualty to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Eye contact

Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water, also under the eyelids. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Symptoms: few or no symptoms expected.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam. Carbon dioxide (CO₂). ABC powder. Water fog (trained personnel only).

Unsuitable media

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Specific hazards

Incomplete combustion and thermolysis may produce gases of varying toxicity such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, various hydrocarbons, aldehydes and soot. These may be highly dangerous if inhaled in confined spaces or at high concentration.

Instructions

Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit. In case of a large fire or in confined or poorly ventilated spaces, wear full fire resistant protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Evacuate non-essential personnel.

Environmental

Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water courses.

Cleanup methods

collect with non-combustable absorbent material

Materials: sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Prevent the formation of vapors, mists and aerosols. Use only in well-ventilated areas. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Wear suitable protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. NEVER ATTEMPT TO PRIME THE CONTAINER SIPHON BY SUCKING WITH THE MOUTH.

Storage

Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. Preferably keep in the original container. Otherwise, reproduce all the statutory information from the labels onto the new container.

Hygiene

Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing is recommended. Ensure the application of strict rules of hygiene by the personnel exposed to the risk of contact with the product. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Use personal protective equipment as required. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday. Wash hands with water as a precaution. Avoid breathing vapours, mist or gas.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Apply technical measures to comply with the occupational exposure limits. When working in confined spaces (tanks, containers, etc.), ensure that there is a supply of air suitable for breathing and wear the recommended equipment.

Hands

Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. If used in solution, or mixed with other substances, and under conditions which differ from EN 374, contact the supplier of the EC approved gloves.

Eyes

If splashes are likely to occur, wear: Safety glasses with side-shields.

Respiratory

For rescue and maintenance work in storage tanks use self-contained breathing apparatus.

Skin/Body

Wear suitable protective clothing. Protective shoes or boots.

Environmental

The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil.
