First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Symptoms: Risk of serious damage to the lungs (by aspiration).

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Call a physician or poison control center immediately. If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Carbon dioxide (CO₂). Dry chemical. Chemical foam. Water mist may be used to cool closed containers.

Unsuitable media

No information available.

Specific hazards

Combustible material. Keep product and empty container away from heat and sources of ignition. Containers may explode when heated. Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating gases and vapors.

Instructions

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.

Firefighter Protection

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Ensure adequate ventilation. Use personal protective equipment as required. Remove all sources of ignition. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Environmental

Should not be released into the environment.

Cleanup methods

Soak up with inert absorbent material. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Materials: inert absorbent material

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear personal protective equipment/face protection. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Storage

Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Hygiene

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Remove and wash contaminated clothing and gloves, including the inside, before re-use. Wash hands before breaks and after work.

Fire prevention

Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Wherever possible, engineering control measures such as the isolation or enclosure of the process, the introduction of process or equipment changes to minimise release or contact, and the use of properly designed ventilation systems, should be adopted to control hazardous materials at source

Hands

Protective gloves. Glove materials: Natural rubber, Nitrile rubber, Neoprene, PVC. Breakthrough time: See manufacturers recommendations. EU standard: EN 374. Inspect gloves before use. Observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. (Refer to manufacturer/supplier for information) gloves are suitable for the task: Chemical compatibility, Dexterity, Operational conditions, User susceptibility, e.g. sensitisation effects, also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion. gloves with care avoiding skin contamination.

Eyes

Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles) (European standard - EN 166)

Respiratory

When workers are facing concentrations above the exposure limit they must use appropriate certified respirators. Large scale/emergency use: Use a NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 136 approved respirator if exposure limits are exceeded or if irritation or other symptoms are experienced. Small scale/Laboratory use: Maintain adequate ventilation

Skin/Body

Wear appropriate protective gloves and clothing to prevent skin exposure.
