Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move victim to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration.

Symptoms: This product can cause severe irritation of the respiratory system.

Skin contact

Wash exposed area with large amounts of water.

Symptoms: Contact can cause severe irritation or burning of skin, especially in the presence of moisture.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with generous amounts of water for as long as needed. This may take several minutes. Pull back the eyelid to ensure that all lime dust has been washed out. Do not rub eyes.

Symptoms: Contact can cause severe irritation or burning of eyes, including permanent damage.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth unless instructed to do so by medical personnel.

Symptoms: This product can cause severe irritation or burning of gastrointestinal tract if swallowed.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek medical attention immediately.

Medical Treatment

Provide general supportive measures and treat symptomatically .

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use dry chemical fire extinguisher

Unsuitable media

Do not use halogenated compounds.

Specific hazards

Sorbacal® H is not combustible or flammable. Sorbacal® H is not considered to be an explosive hazard, although reaction with incompatible materials may rupture containers.

Instructions

Keep personnel away from and upwind of fire.

Firefighter Protection

Wear full fire-fighting turn-out gear (full Bunker gear), and respiratory protection (SCBA).

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Small spill

Use dry methods to collect spilled materials. Avoid generating dust. Do not clean up with compressed air. Store collected materials in dry, sealed plastic or metal containers. Residue on surfaces may be washed with water or dilute vinegar.

Large spill

For large spills, as much as possible, avoid the generation of dusts.

Environmental

For large spills, as much as possible, avoid the generation of dusts. Prevent release to sewers or waterways.

Cleanup methods

Use dry methods to collect spilled materials.

Materials: dry, sealed plastic or metal containers
