04

First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.

Skin contact

Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids.

Ingestion

If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical aid.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Substance is noncombustible; use agent most appropriate to extinguish surrounding fire.

Specific hazards

During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Non-combustible, substance itself does not burn but may decompose upon heating to produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic fumes.

Firefighter Protection

As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the Protective Equipment section.

Cleanup methods

Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container.

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Use with adequate ventilation. Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid ingestion and inhalation.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.

Hygiene

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid ingestion and inhalation.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to keep airborne concentrations below the permissible exposure limits.
