First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If breathing is difficult, remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.

Symptoms: May cause respiratory tract irritation.

Skin contact

In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse.

Symptoms: May cause skin irritation. Symptoms may include redness, drying, defatting and cracking of the skin.

Eye contact

In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water. Remove contact lenses, if worn.

Symptoms: May cause eye irritation. Symptoms may include discomfort or pain, excess blinking and tear production, with possible redness and swelling.

Ingestion

If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Symptoms: May be harmful if swallowed. May cause stomach distress, nausea or vomiting. If sufficient quantities are ingested, neosaxitoxin can cause paresthesia (numbness), paralysis, respiratory arrest, and even death.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical advice/attention if you feel unwell. Call a physician if irritation develops and persists. If irritation persists, get medical attention.
