First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If respiratory symptoms develop, move victim away into fresh air. Keep the patient warm and at rest.

Symptoms: Oil mist may irritate respiratory organs.

Skin contact

Remove soiled clothing. Wash the skin with mild soap and plenty of water.

Symptoms: May cause drying of the skin. Prolonged and/or repeated skin contact may irritate skin.

Eye contact

Rinse with water carefully for at least 15 minutes, keeping the eyelids open. If possible, remove contact lenses and continue rinsing the eye.

Symptoms: May irritate eyes.

Ingestion

DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. If the patient vomits, help to keep the head down so that no aspiration to lungs will occur.

Symptoms: Ingestion may cause nausea and diarrhea.

Immediate Medical Attention

If the situation is unclear or symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

Medical Treatment

No special instructions.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam, water mist, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, sand or earth.

Unsuitable media

Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this may spread the fire.

Specific hazards

Incomplete combustion may form organic and inorganic particles or fumes which may be harmful. Heated containers may rupture, explode or be thrown into the air.

Instructions

Keep storage containers cool with water spray.

Firefighter Protection

In large fires or in confined areas, use appropriate protective equipment and a self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Plug the leak if it can be done safely. Restrict access to the area.

Environmental

Prevent entry into sewers, soil and waterways.

Cleanup methods

collect in suitable containers

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices. Avoid skin contact and breathing vapours. Smoking, open fire and hot work are prohibilited in the vicinity of handling the substance. Static electricity and formation of sparks must be prevented.

Storage

Store in cool, dry, well ventilated area

Hygiene

Wash hands and exposed skin areas before breaks and after handling the product. Wash/clean contaminated clothes, shoes and personal protective equipment before reuse.

Fire prevention

Smoking, open fire and hot work are prohibilited in the vicinity of handling the substance. Static electricity and formation of sparks must be prevented.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation, it is recommended to use local air extraction indoors. If general ventilation is not adequate to keep airborne concentrations under given occupational exposure limits, local exhaust ventilation must be used. Personal protection equipment should be chosen according to the CEN standards.

Hands

Use appropriate chemical resistant gloves. EN374

Eyes

If there is a danger of splashes, use safety goggles. EN166.

Respiratory

If airborne concentrations exceed recommended exposure limits, approved respiratory protective equipment should be worn (combination filter, class A/P2).

Skin/Body

Wear protective clothing made of antistatic material.

Environmental

Prevent entry into sewers or the environment.
