First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Leave the contaminated area – breathe in fresh air. If symptoms occur and persist, seek medical advice.

Symptoms: Overexposure to haze or vapours may cause respiratory irritation.

Skin contact

Remove the contaminated clothes and footwear. Parts of the body that come into contact with the preparation should be rinsed with plenty of running water. If symptoms occur and persist, seek medical advice. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes before reuse.

Symptoms: Skin contact can trigger an allergic response (symptoms: itch, skin redness, rash). May cause irritation (redness, itch) when in contact with skin.

Eye contact

Eyes should be open, also under eyelids, rinse immediately with plenty of running water. If symptoms occur and persist, seek medical advice.

Symptoms: Can cause reddening, pain or tearing when in contact with eyes.

Ingestion

Do not give anything into the mouth of an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting! Seek medical attention immediately! Show the Safety Data Sheet or label to the doctor.

Symptoms: Can cause nausea/vomiting and diarrhoea. It can cause abdominal pain.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek medical attention immediately!

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Carbon dioxide CO₂, extinguishing powder, dispersed water jet, alcohol-resistant foam. Choose fire extinguishing agents according to the current conditions.

Unsuitable media

Direct water jet.

Specific hazards

In case of fire, toxic gasses may be generated; prevent inhalation of gases/fumes.

Instructions

In the event of a fire, immediately confine the area and evacuate all persons in the vicinity. In case of fire and/or heating, do not breathe fumes/gases. Do not intervene if you risk your health and if you are not properly trained. Cool the exposed packaging with dispersed water jet. Remove undamaged containers from the hazardous area if it can be done safely.

Firefighter Protection

Complete protective clothing (SIST EN 469:2020), helmet (SIST EN 443:2008), protective footwear (SIST EN 15090:2012), gloves (SIST EN 659:2003+A1:2008/AC:2009) and self-contained breathing apparatus (SIST EN 137:2006).

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Do not intervene if you risk your health and if you are not properly trained. Prevent access by unprotected persons. Evacuate the danger zone. Do not inhale vapour/mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Slip hazard due to a scattered/spilled product.

Environmental

Prevent leakage into waters, drains, sewage system or on impervious soil with appropriate dams. In case of larger water release or on pervious soil, call the emergency number (112).

Cleanup methods

Absorb the product with an inert material (absorbent, sand), collect it in special containers and leave them to the authorised waste undertaker for handling.

Materials: inert material (absorbent, sand)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Ensure good ventilation. Provide local extraction (ventilation) where there is possibility of inhalation of vapours and aerosols. Do not discharge into the sewage system, surface water, or ground. Close the packaging tightly immediately after use. Comply with the measures prescribed in section 8 of this SDS. Take care of personal hygiene (washing hands before break and after work). Do not eat, drink and smoke during work. Do not inhale vapour/mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse. Ensure tidiness and cleanliness. Follow the instructions on the label and the regulations on safety and health at work.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place. Keep in well closed rooms. Store away from food, drink, and animal food.

Hygiene

Take care of personal hygiene (washing hands before break and after work). Do not eat, drink and smoke during work. Do not inhale vapour/mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse. Ensure tidiness and cleanliness.

Fire prevention

Ensure good ventilation.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide for good ventilation and local suction in areas with higher concentration.

Hands

Protective gloves (SIST EN ISO 374-1:2017/A1:2018). Use only category III protective gloves with the CE marking (SIST EN ISO 374-1:2017/A1:2018). The product is a mixture of different substances so the durability of the gloves cannot be determined in advance and must be checked before use. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use, storage, maintenance, and replacement of gloves. When damage or first signs of wear occur, the gloves should be replaced immediately. Choosing the right gloves depends not only on the material, but also on other quality criteria that vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. The penetration time is set by the glove manufacturer and must be observed.

Eyes

If there is a risk of contact with eyes, wear protective goggles. Safety goggles with lateral protection (SIST EN ISO 16321-1:2022).

Respiratory

Not necessary in case of normal use and with adequate ventilation. In the case of elevated concentrations of vapours/aerosols in the air, use a half-face mask (SIST EN 140:1999/AC:2000) with a combined A2-P2 filter (SIST EN 14387:2021). Elevated concentrations mean that the occupational exposure limit values are exceeded. When selecting the suitable respiratory protection, take under consideration the type of the applied chemicals, work conditions, method of application of the equipment, and the condition of the protection equipment.

Skin/Body

Protective cotton working clothes and footwear that covers the entire foot (SIST EN ISO 20345:2022). Protective clothing resistant against liquid chemical substances (SIST EN 14605:2005+A1:2009). Body protection should be chosen according to the activity and possible exposure.

Environmental

Avoid discharge into watercourses, sewers, or groundwater.
