First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult or unconscious, administer oxygen. If not breathing administer artificial respiration. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Symptoms: Inhalation of vapors may cause nausea, dizziness and drowsiness.

Skin contact

Immediately wash with soap and water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.

Symptoms: Prolonged contact with skin may cause irritation.

Eye contact

Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice or attention.

Symptoms: Causes eye irritation including redness, tearing, and pain.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth out with water. Keep head below hips if vomiting occurs. Seek immediate medical attention. Aspiration hazard. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Symptoms: Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Aspiration may cause pulmonary edema and pneumonitis.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek immediate medical attention. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Medical Treatment

Treatment of overexposure should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical condition. If ingested, material may be aspirated into the lungs and cause chemical pneumonitis. Treat appropriately.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Dry chemical, carbon dioxide, foam, and water fog.

Unsuitable media

Water spray/stream.

Specific hazards

EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE. Contents under pressure. Exposure to temperatures above 122 °F (50 °C) may cause bursting. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and other sources of ignition. Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. Vapors may travel considerable distance to a source of ignition and flash back.

Instructions

Shut off all sources of ignition. Use water spray to disperse vapor and cool fire exposed containers.

Firefighter Protection

Wear NIOSH approved Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus with a full face piece operated in a positive pressure demand mode with full body protective clothing when fighting fires.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Prevent spill from entering sewers, storm drains and natural waterways.

Cleanup methods

Clean up using rag or use some non-combustible material like vermiculite, sand or earth.

Materials: rag, vermiculite, sand or earth
