Gebruik altijd beschermende ademhalingsapparatuur wanneer de mogelijkheid bestaat of wanneer het kan voorzien worden dat de grenswaarden voor beroepsmatige blootstelling zullen overschreden worden (zie de plaatselijke voorschriften). Zorg voor stofafzuiging met een correcte filter indien gemotoriseerd gereedschap wordt gebruikt. Indien de platen bewerkt worden (boren, zagen, schuren e.d.) dienen de limietwaarden voor beroepsmatige blootstelling (de MAC waarden in Nederland) voor inhaleerbaar en inadembaar stof en voor inadembaar kwartsstof gerespecteerd te worden. Controleer de laatste limietwaarden voor beroepsmatige blootstelling (de MAC waarden in Nederland) voor vervuilde lucht die van toepassing zijn.
Gebruik geschikte werkkleding en handschoenen ter bescherming tegen mechanisch letsel en direct huidcontact
Vermijd contact met de ogen. Gebruik een veiligheidsbril bij bewerken en wanneer stof wordt voortgebracht
Vermijd inademen van stof. Gebruik steeds geschikte persoonlijke stofmaskers indien de limietwaarden voor beroepsmatige blootstelling (de MAC waarden in Nederland) kunnen worden overschreden. (bijvoorbeeld voor blootstelling die tot maximaal 10 maal de limietwaarden voor beroepsmatige blootstelling overschrijden, gebruik een stofmasker type P2, voor hogere blootstellingen, gebruik een stofmasker type P3)
