De keuze van een geschikte handschoen is niet alleen afhankelijk van het materiaal, maar ook van andere kwaliteitskenmerken en verschilt van fabrikant tot fabrikant. Aangezien het product uit meerdere stoffen is samengesteld, is de duurzaamheid van de handschoenmaterialen niet vooraf berekenbaar en moet derhalve vr het gebruik worden getest. Voor continu contact bevelen wij handschoenen aan met een doorbraaktijd van meer van 240 minuten, waarbij de voorkeur gegeven wordt aan meer dan 480 minuten in die gevallen waarin geschikte handschoenen gedentificeerd kunnen worden. Voor kortdurende of spatbescherming bevelen wij hetzelfde aan, maar zijn ons ervan bewust dat geschikte handschoenen die dit beschermingsniveau bieden, mogelijk niet beschikbaar zijn en in dat geval kan een kortere doorbraaktijd aanvaardbaar zijn zolang de procedures voor toepasselijk onderhoud en tijdige vervanging gevolgd worden. De dikte van de handschoenen is geen goede maat voor de weerstand van de handschoenen tegen een chemische stof, omdat dit afhankelijk is van de exacte samenstelling van het materiaal waarvan de handschoenen gemaakt zijn. De precieze penetratietijd kunt u te weten komen bij de handschoenfabrikant; houd er rekening mee.
Bij het omgieten is het gebruik van een veiligheidsbril aan te bevelen.
