Kies handschoenmateriaal rekening houdend met de doorbraaktijden, de permeatiegraden en de degradatie. De keuze van een geschikte handschoen is niet alleen afhankelijk van het materiaal, maar ook van andere kwaliteitskenmerken en verschilt van fabrikant tot fabrikant. Aangezien het product uit meerdere stoffen is samengesteld, is de duurzaamheid van de handschoenmaterialen niet vooraf berekenbaar en moet derhalve vóór het gebruik worden getest. De geschiktheid (doorbraaktijd, materiaaldikte) voor een specifieke werkplek moet worden overlegd met de fabrikant van de beschermhandschoenen. De precieze doorbraaktijd kunt u te weten komen bij de handschoenfabrikant; houd er rekening mee. Voor een langdurig contact zijn handschoenen uit de volgende materialen geschikt: Nitrilrubber: Doorbraaktijd >480 min - Aanbevolen dikte: 0.35 mm; Butylrubber: Doorbraaktijd >480 min - Aanbevolen dikte: 0.5 mm. Voor een langdurig contact van maximaal 15 minuten zijn handschoenen uit de volgende materialen geschikt: Nitrilrubber: Doorbraaktijd >30 min - Aanbevolen dikte: 0.13 mm
