First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Immediate medical attention is required. Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Avoid direct contact with skin. Use barrier to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with plenty of water.

Eye contact

Immediately flush with plenty of water. After initial flushing, remove any contact lenses and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. Call a physician immediately.

Ingestion

Do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Drink plenty of water.

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediate medical attention is required.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Dry chemical, CO2, water spray or alcohol-resistant foam. Water spray, fog or alcohol-resistant foam. Use water spray or fog; do not use straight streams.

Unsuitable media

CAUTION: All these products have a very low flash point. Use of water spray when fighting fire may be inefficient

Specific hazards

Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. Vapors may travel to source of ignition and flash back. Most vapors are heavier than air. They will spread along ground and collect in low or confined areas (sewers, basements, tanks). Vapor explosion hazard indoors, outdoors or in sewers. Those substances designated with a "P" may polymerize explosively when heated or involved in a fire. Runoff to sewer may create fire or explosion hazard.

Instructions

Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk.

Firefighter Protection

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Remove all sources of ignition. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Use personal protective equipment as required.

Environmental

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Prevent product from entering drains. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Cleanup methods

Dam up. Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Pick up and transfer to properly labeled containers.

Materials: inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Keep away from heat, sparks, flame and other sources of ignition (i.e., pilot lights, electric motors and static electricity). Keep container tightly closed. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment. All equipment used when handling the product must be grounded.

Storage

Store in accordance with local regulations.

Fire prevention

Keep away from heat, sparks, flame and other sources of ignition (i.e., pilot lights, electric motors and static electricity). Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment.
