04

First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove affected person to fresh air.

Skin contact

Do not pull bonded skin apart. It may be gently peeled apart using a blunt object such as a spoon, preferably after soaking in warm soapy water.

Eye contact

If the eye is bonded closed, release eyelashes with warm water by covering with wet pad. Keep eye covered with wet pad until debonding is complete, usually within 1-3 days. Do not force eye open.

Symptoms: Cyanoacrylate will bond to eye protein causing lacrymatory effect.

Ingestion

Ensure that breathing passages are not obstructed. The product will polymerise immediately in the mouth making it almost impossible to swallow. Saliva will slowly separate the solidified product from the mouth (several hours).

Immediate Medical Attention

Medical advice should be sought in case solid particles of cyanoacrylate trapped behind the eyelid cause any abrasive damage.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

dry powder, foam or carbon dioxide

Specific hazards

Trace amounts of toxic fumes may be released on incineration

Firefighter Protection

the use of breathing apparatus is recommended

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Do not use cloths for mopping up. Polymerise with water and scrape off floor.

Cleanup methods

Polymerise with water and scrape off floor.

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Use of dispensing equipment is recommended to minimise the risk of skin or eye contact.

Storage

Store in original containers at 5°C-20°C and do not return residual materials to containers as contamination may reduce the shelf life of the bulk product.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

Polyethylene or polypropylene gloves are recommended when using large volumes. Do not use PVC, rubber or nylon gloves.

Eyes

Eye protection should be used where there is any risk of splashing.
