First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove to fresh air. Consult a physician if necessary. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. Do not use mouth-to-mouth method if victim ingested or inhaled the substance; give artificial respiration with the aid of a pocket mask equipped with a one-way valve or other proper respiratory medical device.

Symptoms: Aspiration into lungs can produce severe lung damage. Risk of serious damage to the lungs (by aspiration).

Skin contact

Remove and wash contaminated clothing and gloves, including the inside, before re-use. Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes.

Eye contact

Immediately flush with plenty of water. After initial flushing, remove any contact lenses and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Ingestion

Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth. Drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a physician or poison control center immediately. If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward.

Immediate Medical Attention

Call a physician or poison control center immediately.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Unsuitable media

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Specific hazards

Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating gases and vapors.

Firefighter Protection

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Use personal protective equipment as required. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and inhalation of vapors. Extremely slippery when spilled

Environmental

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Cleanup methods

Soak up with inert absorbent material. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Materials: inert absorbent material

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Do not breathe mist/vapors/spray. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Hygiene

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Remove and wash contaminated clothing and gloves, including the inside, before re-use. Wash hands before breaks and after work.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

None under normal use conditions.

Hands

Protective gloves. Glove materials: Nitrile rubber (> 480 minutes, 0.38 - 0.56 mm, EN 374), Neoprene gloves (> 480 minutes, 0.45 mm). Inspect gloves before use. Observe instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time. Ensure gloves are suitable for the task: Chemical compatability, Dexterity, Operational conditions, User susceptibility. Remove gloves with care avoiding skin contamination.

Eyes

Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles) (European standard - EN 166)

Respiratory

No protective equipment is needed under normal use conditions. Large scale/emergency use: Use a NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 136 approved respirator if exposure limits are exceeded or if irritation or other symptoms are experienced. Recommended Filter type: Particle filter.

Skin/Body

Wear appropriate protective gloves and clothing to prevent skin exposure.

Environmental

Do not allow material to contaminate ground water system.
