First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move exposed person to fresh air. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. Get medical attention immediately.

Skin contact

Immediately rinse with water. If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Clean shoes thoroughly before reuse.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Check for and remove any contact lenses. Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Then consult a doctor.

Ingestion

Wash out mouth with water. Drink plenty of water and provide fresh air. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention immediately.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention immediately (after inhalation or swallowing). Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use local exhaust ventilation or other engineering control to maintain airborne levels below exposure limit requirement or guldelines. If there are no applicable exposure limit requirement or guidelines, general ventilation should be sufficient for most operations. Local exhaust ventillation may be necessary for some operations.

Hands

Protective gloves. The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation. Due to missing tests no recommendation to the glove material can be given for the product/ the preparation/ the chemical mixture. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation. Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard should be worn at all times when handling chemical products if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary. The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the product is a preparation of several substances, the resistance of the glove material can not be calculated in advance and has therefore to be checked prior to the application. The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

Eyes

Goggles recommended during refilling

Respiratory

In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device. Where there is potential for airborne exposures, wear NIOSH approved respiratory protection.

Skin/Body

Protective work clothing
