First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

In case of accident by inhalation: remove casualty to fresh air and keep at rest. Consult physician.

Skin contact

After contact with skin, take off immediately all contaminated clothing, and wash immediately with plenty of water and soap.

Eye contact

Take off lenses. Immediately flush eyes with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart. Consult physician.

Ingestion

Calm the victim. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Immediately get medical attention. Let water be swallowed in little sips (dilution effect). Do not induce vomiting.

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediately get medical attention.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

alcohol resistant foam. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry extinguishing powder. Water spray. Atomized water.

Unsuitable media

High power water jet.

Specific hazards

In case of fire may form: Carbon monoxide. Nitrogen oxides (NOx). Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.

Firefighter Protection

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical resistant suit.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Due to danger of explosion, prevent leakage of vapors into cellars, flues and ditches. Do not empty into drains or the aquatic environment.

Cleanup methods

Absorb with liquid-binding material

Materials: sand, diatomaceous earth, acid- or universal binding agents

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. Do not leave the container open. Handle open container with care. Keep container tightly closed. If technical suction or ventilation measures are not possible or are insufficient, protective breathing apparatus must be worn. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Protect skin by using skin protective cream. Wash hands when done working with material; at breaks, lunch, shift changes, etc. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Never clean the skin or the clothes with the preparation!

Storage

Keep only in the original container in a cool, well ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Protect against high warming or solar radiation.

Hygiene

When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Protect skin by using skin protective cream. Wash hands when done working with material; at breaks, lunch, shift changes, etc.

Fire prevention

Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. Highly flammable.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Technical measures and the application of appropriate methods of operation, as indicated in section 7, have precedence over to the application of personal protection equipment. Recommended analysis procedures for workplace measurement: please see the series „Dangerous Substances" (GA 13) of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BauA Germany).

Hands

Type of chemical protective gloves to choose depends on the concentration and quantity of dangerous substances as well as on work place specifications. In the cases of special applications, it is recommended to check the chemical resistance with the manufacturer of the gloves. EN 374

Eyes

Tightly sealed safety glasses. EN 166

Respiratory

If technical suction or ventilation measures are not possible or are insufficient, protective breathing apparatus must be worn. Respiratory filter A1 (brown) up to 1000 mL / m³ (ppm); Respiratory filter A1 (brown) up to 5000 mL / m³ (ppm); Respiratory filter A1 (brown) up to 10000 mL / m³ (ppm)

Skin/Body

Carry long-sleeved, flame impeding and anti-static labour safety clothing.
