First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention if symptoms appear. Serious Inhalation: Evacuate the victim to a safe area as soon as possible. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If the victim is not breathing, perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Seek medical attention.

Skin contact

Wash with soap and water. Cover the irritated skin with an emollient. Get medical attention if irritation develops. Cold water may be used.

Symptoms: irritated skin

Eye contact

Check for and remove any contact lenses. In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Cold water may be used. Get medical attention.

Ingestion

Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. Get medical attention if symptoms appear.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

SMALL FIRE: Use DRY chemical powder. LARGE FIRE: Use alcohol foam, water spray or fog.

Specific hazards

Flammable liquid, soluble or dispersed in water. Vapor may travel considerable distance to source of ignition and flash back. CAUTION: MAY BURN WITH NEAR INVISIBLE FLAME. Explosive in the form of vapor when exposed to heat or flame. May form explosive mixtures with air.

Instructions

Keep unopened containers cool by spraying with water.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Small spill

Dilute with water and mop up, or absorb with an inert dry material and place in an appropriate waste disposal container.

Large spill

Flammable liquid. Keep away from heat. Keep away from sources of ignition. Stop leak if without risk. Absorb with DRY earth, sand or other non-combustible material. Do not touch spilled material.

Environmental

Prevent entry into sewers, basements or confined areas

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Keep away from heat. Keep away from sources of ignition. Ground all equipment containing material. Do not ingest. Do not breathe gas/fumes/ vapor/spray. Avoid contact with eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. If ingested, seek medical advice immediately and show the container or the label.

Storage

Store in a segregated and approved area. Keep container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use.

Hygiene

Do not ingest. Avoid contact with eyes.

Fire prevention

Keep away from heat. Keep away from sources of ignition. Avoid all possible sources of ignition (spark or flame).

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep the airborne concentrations of vapors below their respective threshold limit value.

Hands

Gloves.

Eyes

Splash goggles.

Respiratory

Vapor respirator. Be sure to use an approved/certified respirator or equivalent. In case of a large spill: A self contained breathing apparatus should be used to avoid inhalation of the product.

Skin/Body

Lab coat. Personal Protection in Case of a Large Spill: Full suit. Boots.
