First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Supply fresh air. If required give artificial respiration. Keep patient warm. Give artificial respiration in case breathing is not regular or if it has stopped. If breathing is difficult call a physician.

Symptoms: breathing is not regular or if it has stopped, breathing is difficult

Skin contact

Wash with soap and rinse with plenty of water. If irritation continues consult a physician. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Symptoms: Irritation

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of 1% physiological saline for 5 minutes while holding eyelids open: see a physician. If no saline is available, flush with plenty of clean water for 15 minutes. See physician.

Symptoms: Water (moisture) swells this product into a gelatinous film which may be difficult to remove from the eye using only water.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek medical attention in case of complaints. If breathing is difficult call a physician. See a physician for eye contact. If irritation continues consult a physician. If symptoms persist consult physician.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam, carbon dioxide (CO2), extinguishing powder, water spray, water mist. CO2 may be ineffective on larger fires due to a lack of cooling capacity which may result in reignition.

Unsuitable media

None known.

Specific hazards

Product may cause an explosive mixture of organic dust and air.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained respiratory protective device and full protective gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Prevent contamination of soil, drains and surface waters.

Cleanup methods

Clean up mechanically. Transfer liquids and solid diking material to separate suitable containers for recovery or disposal. Clean polluted are with water or other cleaning fluids.

Materials: water or other cleaning fluids.

Related Substances

Similar chemicals with comparable safety profiles

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Do not eat or drink during work. Do not smoke. Do not swallow or inhale. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Storage

Store in tightly sealed containers in a dry and cool room. Store containers in a well ventilated location.

Hygiene

Take off contaminated clothing immediately and reuse only after thoroughly cleaning these.

Fire prevention

Keep away from sources of ignition - do not smoke. Combustible material (TRGS 510).

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use appropriate local exhaust ventilation to control airborne levels.

Hands

Chemical protective gloves (EN 374 (Europe), F739 (US)).

Eyes

Safety glasses with protective shields (EN 166).

Respiratory

A respiratory protection program meeting OSHA 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator´s use.

Skin/Body

Protective suit with long sleeves.

Environmental

No special measures required.
