Composition / Information on Ingredients

Chemical components, concentration ranges, and hazardous substance identification

Type mixture
Chemical Name CAS Number Concentration Hazardous
Distillates (petroleum), hydrotreated heavy naphthenic; < 3% DMSO substance with a Community workplace exposure limit (Note L) EC: 265-155-0 64742-52-5 20 - 40% No
Poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), a-[(9Z)-2-[(1-oxo-9-octadecen-1-yl)amino]ethyl]-w-hydroxy- EC: 607-851-2 26027-37-2 1 - 5% Yes
Alcohols, C16-18 and C18 unsaturated, ethoxylated > 1 < 2.5 EO EC: 500-236-9 68920-66-1 1 - 2.5% Yes

Note L : The classification as a carcinogen need not apply if it can be shown that the substance contains less than 3 % DMSO extract as measured by IP 346 'Determination of polycyclic aromatics in unused lubricating base oils and asphaltene free petroleum fractions — Dimethyl sulphoxide extraction refractive index method', Institute of Petroleum, London. This note applies only to certain complex oil-derived substances in Part 3.

First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of fumes from overheating or combustion.

Skin contact

Remove affected clothing and wash all exposed skin area with mild soap and water, followed by warm water rinse.

Symptoms: May cause slight irritation to the skin.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Obtain medical attention if pain, blinking or redness persists.

Symptoms: May cause slight irritation.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Drink promptly large quantities of milk, egg whites, gelatin solutions, or if these are not available, drink large quantities of water.

Symptoms: Ingestion may cause nausea and vomiting.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Any fire extinguishing media may be used on nearby fires (water, powder, foam).

Unsuitable media

Do not use a heavy water stream.

Specific hazards

The product is not flammable.

Instructions

Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Exercise caution when fighting any chemical fire. Prevent fire fighting water from entering the environment.

Firefighter Protection

Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Spill area may be slippery. Wear recommended personal protective equipment. Equip cleanup crew with proper protection.

Environmental

Prevent entry to sewers and public waters. Avoid release to the environment.

Cleanup methods

Soak up spills with inert solids, such as clay or diatomaceous earth as soon as possible. Sweep or shovel spills into appropriate container for disposal.

Materials: inert solids, such as clay or diatomaceous earth

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Storage

Keep container closed when not in use. Keep at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C in original container.

Hygiene

Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving work. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

For most applications, normal shop ventilation is adequate. However, when high mist levels are generated or where machines are close together, or where ventilation is inadequate, use of splash guards or mist collectors is recommended. Mist levels should comply with local regulations.

Hands

Follow Cimcool Skin Protection Plan. Impervious gloves are recommended when handling product concentrate. The same gloves can be used for the diluted product, if considered necessary. Consider the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used. Type: Disposable gloves, Reusable gloves; Material: Nitrile rubber (NBR); Permeation: 6 (>480 minutes); Thickness (mm): 0.11; Standard: EN ISO 374

Eyes

Even though no specific eye irritation data are available, wear eye protection appropriate to conditions of use when handling this material. Type: Chemical goggles or safety glasses; Standard: EN 166

Respiratory

No special respiratory protection equipment is recommended under normal conditions of use with adequate ventilation.

Skin/Body

Wear suitable protective clothing. Wash contaminated clothes
