Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Immediately call a poison center or doctor/physician.

Symptoms: Toxic if inhaled. Danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure through inhalation.

Skin contact

Rinse skin with water/shower. Remove/take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Immediately call a poison center or doctor/physician. Wash with plenty of soap and water. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Symptoms: Repeated exposure to this material can result in absorption through skin causing significant health hazard. Toxic in contact with skin.

Eye contact

Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Obtain medical attention if pain, blinking or redness persists.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Obtain emergency medical attention. Immediately call a poison center or doctor/physician.

Symptoms: Toxic if swallowed. Swallowing a small quantity of this material will result in serious health hazard.

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediately call a poison center or doctor/physician.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving work. Provide good ventilation in process area to prevent formation of vapour. No open flames. No smoking. Use only non-sparking tools. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.

Storage

Keep only in the original container in a cool, well ventilated place away from direct (sun)light. Keep in fireproof place. Keep container tightly closed. Do not freeze. Do not use after expiry date.

Hygiene

Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling.

Fire prevention

No open flames. No smoking. Use only non-sparking tools.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use adequate ventilation! Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety. Avoid all unnecessary exposure.

Hands

Wear protective gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer surface) to avoid skin contact with this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands. The selected protective gloves have to meet specifications of regulation EU 2016/425 and the standard EN374.

Eyes

Face shield and safety glasses. Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166 (EU).

Respiratory

Wear appropriate mask. Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a full-face respirator with multi-purpose combination (US) or type ABEK (EN 14387) respirator cartridges as a backup to engineering controls. If the respirator is the sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Skin/Body

Wear fire/flame resistant/retardant clothing. Complete suit protecting against chemicals, flame retardant antistatic protective clothing. The type of protection must be selected according to the concentration and volume of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.
