06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Keep unnecessary personnel away.

Small spill

Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination.

Large spill

Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Dike the spilled material, where this is possible. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Following product recovery, flush area with water.

Environmental

Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

Cleanup methods

Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Following product recovery, flush area with water. Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination.

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Do not breathe vapour. Do not get this material in contact with eyes. Avoid prolonged exposure. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Storage

Storage temperature: between 2 °C and 8 °C. Store away from incompatible materials (see Section 10 of the SDS).

Hygiene

Observe good industrial hygiene practices.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Good general ventilation (typically 10 air changes per hour) should be used. Ventilation rates should be matched to conditions. If applicable, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels below recommended exposure limits. If exposure limits have not been established, maintain airborne levels to an acceptable level. Provide eyewash station.

Hands

Use protective gloves made of: Nitrile.

Eyes

Wear eye/face protection.

Respiratory

Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapors/spray. When workers are facing concentrations above the exposure limit they must use appropriate certified respirators.

Skin/Body

Wear suitable protective clothing.

Environmental

Environmental manager must be informed of all major releases.
