First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. Get medical aid if cough or other symptoms appear.

Symptoms: No adverse effects are anticipated from inhalation.

Skin contact

Wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly. Wash area thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical aid if irritation develops or persist.

Eye contact

Flush immediately with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Eyelids should be held away from the eyeball to ensure thorough rinsing. Get medical attention if irritation persists.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cups of milk or water. Get medical aid.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical aid if cough or other symptoms appear, if irritation develops or persists, or after swallowing.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace. Open and handle receptacle with care. Prevent formation of aerosols. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep container tightly closed when not in use.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed when not in use.

Hygiene

Wash thoroughly after handling.

Fire prevention

Protect against electrostatic charges.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Good general ventilation should be sufficient to control airborne levels.

Hands

Protective gloves. The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation. Due to missing tests no recommendation to the glove material can be given for the product/ the preparation/ the chemical mixture. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation. The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the product is a preparation of several substances, the resistance of the glove material can not be calculated in advance and has therefore to be checked prior to the application. The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

Eyes

Tightly sealed goggles

Respiratory

In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device.

Skin/Body

Store protective clothing separately.
