First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. If symptoms develop and persist, get medical attention.

Skin contact

Wipe off paste with paper towel or cloth. Wash with soap and water. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable media

High volume water jet.

Instructions

Prevent inhalation of fumes and gases. In case of fire, keep containers cool with water spray.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing, such as turn-out gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Use personal protection recommended in Section 8, isolate the hazard area and deny entry to unnecessary and unprotected personnel.

Large spill

Maintain good ventilation for large spills.

Environmental

Do not allow material to contaminate ground water system.

Cleanup methods

Scrape up as much material as possible. Place scrap material in a well ventilated area and allow to cure to rubber.

Storage

Store in a dry area below 90° F.

Hygiene

Wash thoroughly after handling.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Avoid naked flames, sparking and sources of ignition. Prevent electrostatic charge build-up by using common bonding and grounding techniques.

Hands

Use impermeable gloves

Eyes

Safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields.

Respiratory

Use a NIOSH approved supplied air respirator with an organic cartridge if the potential to exceed established exposure limits exists.
