Notes

The following titanium sponge powders grades are manufactured: TPP-1, TPP-2, TPP-3, TPP-4, TPP-5, TPP-6, TPP-7, TPP-8 depending on chemistry and grain size distribution. Where TPP - Titanium sponge powders, numbers are grade indication according to chemistry and grain size distribution. For powders, supplied in the form of tablets, a "T" letter is added to the designations of the grade. For powders with rounded (oval) shape of the particles "A" letter is added to the designation of the grade [1].

First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

remove a poisoned person from the affected area, remove polluted clothing. Fresh air, rest, warm.

Symptoms: Inhalation of dust (aerosol) causes throat irritation, cough, respiratory affection, chest pain.

Eye contact

remove a poisoned person from the affected area, remove polluted clothing, remove excess product by a cotton disc, wash with running water with a soap.

Symptoms: Eye contact with dust (aerosol) causes possible mechanical irritation (eye watering, light conjunctiva redness).

Ingestion

rinse a mouth with water, drink a plenty of water, take activated carbon, saline purge (sodium sulfate).

Symptoms: When ingested mechanical irritation is possible - nausea, vomiting, weakness, abdominal pain, diarrhea

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek medical advice in case of necessity.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Dry sand, potassium chloride or sodium chloride or their mixture, dolomite powder [1]; magnesium oxide, powder composition PKH [20]. Titanium dioxide [7].

Unsuitable media

Water, foam extinguishers, because water decomposition with production of hydrogen will take place, which will intensify the burning process [20].

Specific hazards

Products refer to the group of combustible substances.

Instructions

Do not approach the burning tanks. Cool substance tanks using water at a maximum range.

Firefighter Protection

A fire-fighting suit complete with a self-rescue device SPI-20.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Get a vehicle to a safe place. Isolate the danger zone within a radius of at least 200 m. Adjust this distance by results of chemical reconnaissance. Remove unauthorized persons. Enter the danger zone only equipped with the personal protective equipment. Observe the fire safety measures. Do not smoke. Eliminate sources of heat and sparks. Provide first aid to the injured.

Small spill

When spills take place indoors the substance must be covered with inert material, collected into a container and sent to the production line for processing

Environmental

Do not allow substance enter water bodies and sewage.

Cleanup methods

cut the superficial layer of soil with pollution, collect and remove it for disposal

Materials: inert material

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

When working with finished goods general fire safety rules must be observed: use explosion-proof equipment and lighting; to avoid static electricity, equipment must be grounded; primary fire extinguishing agents should be available at the workplaces. Spark proof tools must be used at all operations.

Storage

The product packed in air-tight containers, is stored in a warehouse of the consignor (consignee), equipped with fire control system.

Fire prevention

use explosion-proof equipment and lighting; to avoid static electricity, equipment must be grounded; primary fire extinguishing agents should be available at the workplaces. Spark proof tools must be used at all operations.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Air-tightness of the production process and production equipment. The production areas are to be equipped with a balanced ventilation system; areas of potential titanium aerosol occurrence – with local exhaust devices.
