First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move affected person to fresh air at once. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues. Rinse nose and mouth with water.

Symptoms: May cause respiratory system irritation.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing. Get medical attention if irritation persists after washing. Rinse immediately with plenty of water.

Symptoms: Causes severe burns. Prolonged contact causes serious tissue damage.

Eye contact

Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists after washing. Show this Safety Data Sheet to the medical personnel. Rinse immediately with plenty of water.

Symptoms: This product is corrosive. May cause chemical eye burns. Corneal damage. Severe irritation, burning, tearing and blurred vision.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Give plenty of water to drink. Keep affected person under observation. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues. Show this Safety Data Sheet to the medical personnel.

Suitable media

Cleanup methods

Flush away spillage with plenty of water. Absorb spillage with non-combustible, absorbent material. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Flush contaminated area with plenty of water.

Handling

Wear protective clothing as described in Section 8 of this safety data sheet. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of vapours and spray/mists. Do not mix with acid.

Storage

Store in tightly-closed, original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Protect from light. Store at temperatures between 5°C and 25°C. Keep out of the reach of children.

Hygiene

Good personal hygiene procedures should be implemented. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Provide eyewash station. Wash promptly with soap and water if skin becomes contaminated. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Use appropriate skin cream to prevent drying of skin.

Engineering

Provide adequate ventilation.

Hands

Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard should be worn if a risk assessment indicates skin contact is possible. It is recommended that gloves are made of the following material: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Rubber (natural, latex). To protect hands from chemicals, gloves should comply with European Standard EN374.

Eyes

Eyewear complying with an approved standard should be worn if a risk assessment indicates eye contact is possible. Unless the assessment indicates a higher degree of protection is required, the following protection should be worn: Tight-fitting safety glasses. Personal protective equipment for eye and face protection should comply with European Standard EN166.

Respiratory

Respiratory protection not required.

Wear appropriate clothing to prevent repeated or prolonged skin contact. Use appropriate skin cream to prevent drying of skin.
