First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove affected person from the immediate area. Ensure supply of fresh air. Irregular breathing/no breathing: artificial respiration. In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately.

Skin contact

In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with soap and water. Consult a doctor if skin irritation persists.

Symptoms: Skin irritation

Eye contact

Remove contact lenses. Rinse eye thoroughly under running water keeping eyelids wide open and protecting the unaffected eye (at least 10 to 15 minutes). Seek medical assistance.

Symptoms: serious eye damage

Ingestion

Rinse the mouth thoroughly with water. Call a doctor immediately. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting.

Immediate Medical Attention

In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately.

Unsuitable media

High power water jet

Specific hazards

In the event of fire, the following can be released: Carbon monoxide (CO); Carbon dioxide (CO2); Nitrogen oxides (NOx); Sulphur dioxide (SO2); Metal oxides

Firefighter Protection

Use self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear full protective suit.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Provide good ventilation at the work area (local exhaust ventilation, if necessary). Risks inherent to handling the product must be minimised by applying the appropriate protective and preventive measures. Working processes should - so far as possible, according to the state of the art - be designed to rule out bodily contact or the release of hazardous substances.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed and dry in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep from freezing. Protect from heat and direct sunlight.

Hygiene

Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Provide eye wash fountain in work area. Have emergency shower available. Wash hands before breaks and after work.

Fire prevention

Keep away from sources of heat and ignition. Do not smoke.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation, local exhaust at the work station if necessary.

Hands

Sufficient protection is given wearing suitable protective gloves checked according to i.e. EN 374, in the event of risk of skin contact with the product. Before use, the protective gloves should be tested in any case for its specific workstation suitability (i.e. mechanical resistance, product compatibility and antistatic properties). Adhere to the manufacturer's instructions and information relating to the use, storage, care and replacement of protective gloves. Protective gloves shall be replaced immediately when physically damaged or worn. Design operations thus to avoid permanent use of protective gloves.

Eyes

Safety glasses with side protection shield (EN 166)

Respiratory

If workplace exposure limits are exceeded, a respiration protection approved for this particular job must be worn. In case of aerosol and mist formation, take appropriate measures for breathing protection in the event workplace threshold values are not specified.

Skin/Body

Normal chemical work clothing.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter drains or water courses.
