First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If inhaled, remove to fresh air. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Skin contact

Wash with water and soap as a precaution. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Eye contact

In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If easy to do, remove contact lens, if worn. Get medical attention immediately.

Symptoms: Causes serious eye damage.

Ingestion

If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting. Get medical attention if symptoms occur. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention immediately (for eye contact). Get medical attention if symptoms occur (for other routes).

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Not applicable. Will not burn

Unsuitable media

Not applicable. Will not burn

Specific hazards

Exposure to combustion products may be a hazard to health.

Instructions

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Remove undamaged containers from fire area if it is safe to do so.

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Use personal protective equipment.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Use personal protective equipment. Follow safe handling advice (see section 7) and personal protective equipment recommendations (see section 8).

Large spill

For large spills, provide dyking or other appropriate containment to keep material from spreading. If dyked material can be pumped, store recovered material in appropriate container.

Environmental

Avoid release to the environment. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Prevent spreading over a wide area (e.g. by containment or oil barriers). Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water.

Cleanup methods

Soak up with inert absorbent material. Clean up remaining materials from spill with suitable absorbent.

Materials: inert absorbent material, suitable absorbent

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid inhalation of vapour or mist. Do not swallow. Do not get in eyes. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice, based on the results of the workplace exposure assessment. Keep container tightly closed. Take care to prevent spills, waste and minimize release to the environment.

Storage

Keep in properly labelled containers. Keep tightly closed. Store in accordance with the particular national regulations.

Hygiene

If exposure to chemical is likely during typical use, provide eye flushing systems and safety showers close to the working place. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Minimize workplace exposure concentrations.

Hands

Material: Nitrile rubber; Break through time: > 480 min; Glove thickness: 0,5 mm. Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance and specific to place of work. For special applications, we recommend clarifying the resistance to chemicals of the aforementioned protective gloves with the glove manufacturer.

Eyes

Chemical resistant goggles must be worn. If splashes are likely to occur, wear: Face-shield. Equipment should conform to DIN EN 166

Respiratory

If adequate local exhaust ventilation is not available or exposure assessment demonstrates exposures outside the recommended guidelines, use respiratory protection. Equipment should conform to DIN EN 14387. Filter type: Combined particulates and organic vapour type (A-P)

Skin/Body

Select appropriate protective clothing based on chemical resistance data and an assessment of the local exposure potential. Skin contact must be avoided by using impervious protective clothing (gloves, aprons, boots, etc).
