First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air. Give artificial respiration if needed. If breathing is difficult, oxygen should be administered by qualified personnel.

Symptoms: May be harmful if inhaled. Respiratory tract irritation.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash the contact area thoroughly with soap and water for several minutes. Launder clothing before re-use.

Symptoms: Moderate skin irritation.

Eye contact

Flush eyes thoroughly with water for several minutes, while holding the eyelids apart. Remove contact lenses if easy to do so. Continue rinsing.

Symptoms: Moderate eye irritation.

Ingestion

Keep the victim calm and warm. If conscious, rinse mouth with water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person. If vomiting occurs spontaneously, keep head below hips to prevent aspiration into the lungs.

Symptoms: Aspiration hazard: material may enter the lungs if swallowed and cause lung injury.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention if irritation persists (eye, skin, inhalation). Get immediate medical attention (ingestion).

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water fog or spray, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide or dry chemical.

Specific hazards

Vapors are heavier than air and may travel along surfaces to remote ignition sources and flash back. Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air in confined areas.

Instructions

Cool fire exposed containers with water.

Firefighter Protection

Wear an approved, positive pressure, self-contained breathing apparatus, and full protective clothing.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Remove all ignition sources such as open flames, spark producing equipment, pilot lights, etc. Ventilate area.

Environmental

Avoid releases to the environment.

Cleanup methods

collect into an appropriate container for disposal
