05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Specific hazards

Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Only qualified personnel equipped with suitable protective equipment may intervene. Prevent unauthorized persons entering the zone.

Environmental

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.

Cleanup methods

Contain spillage, soak up with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and transfer to a container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section 13). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Materials: sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite, sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust
