General Composition

The product is a manufactured article as described in 29 CFR 1910.1200. The battery cell, chemical materials are stored in a hermetically-sealed metal case, designed to withstand temperatures and pressures encountered during normal use. As a result, during normal use, there is no physical danger of ignition or explosion and chemical danger of hazardous materials leakage. However, if exposed to a fire, explosion, added mechanical shocks, decomposed, added electric stress by misuse, the gas release vent will be operated. The battery cell case will be breached at the extreme. Hazardous materials may be released. Moreover, if heated intensely by the surrounding fire, acid or harmful fume may be emitted.

Emergency First Aid Measures

Critical first aid procedures for chemical exposure incidents and medical emergencies

๐Ÿซ Inhalation Exposure

Cover the victim in a blanket, move to the place of fresh air and keep quiet. Give artificial respiration immediately if breathing difficulty or asphyxia occurs.

Symptoms:

Dyspnea (breathing difficulty), asphyxia (short of oxygen).

๐Ÿ–๏ธ Skin Contact

Remove contaminated clothes and shoes immediately. Wash the contacted region with soap and plenty of water. Seek medical attention immediately.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Eye Contact

Immediately flush eyes with water continuously for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Ingestion/Swallowing

If a battery cell and internal cell materials of an opened battery cell are ingested, do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately.

๐Ÿšจ Immediate Medical Attention Required

Seek medical attention immediately for all exposure routes.

Fire Fighting Measures & Emergency Response

Fire suppression methods, extinguishing media, and firefighting safety procedures

โœ… Suitable Extinguishing Media

Dry sand, chemical powder fire extinguishing medium.

โš ๏ธ Specific Fire Hazards

Acid or harmful fume is emitted during fire.

Accidental Release Measures & Spill Response

Emergency spill cleanup procedures, containment methods, and environmental protection

๐ŸŒ Environmental Precautions

Do not throw out into the environment

๐Ÿงน Cleanup Methods

Dilute the leaked electrolyte with water and neutralize with diluted sulfuric acid. The leaked solid is moved to a container. The leaked place is fully flushed with water.

Safe Handling & Storage Procedures

Industrial handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace safety requirements

โš ๏ธ Handling Precautions

โ€ข Do not damage or remove the external tube.

โ€ข Never expose cells in a fire or to high temperatures.

โ€ข Do not soak cells in water and seawater.

โ€ข Do not expose to strong oxidizers.

โ€ข Do not give a strong mechanical shock or throw down.

โ€ข Never disassemble, modify or deform.

โ€ข Do not connect the positive terminal to the negative with electrically conductive material.

โ€ข In case of charging, use only dedicated charger or charge according to the conditions specified by Makita.

๐Ÿช Storage Conditions

โ€ข Avoid direct sunlight, high temperature, high humidity.

โ€ข Store in cool place (temperature :- 30 ~ 35 degree C, humidity : 45~85%).

Chemical Stability & Reactivity Data

Chemical stability, hazardous reactions, and incompatible materials information

โœ… Chemical Stability

Stable under normal use

โš ๏ธ Hazardous Reactions

By misuse of a battery cell or the like, oxygen or hydrogen accumulates in the cell and the internal pressure rises. These gases may be emitted through the gas release vent. When fire is near, these gases may catch fire.

๐Ÿšซ Conditions to Avoid

Direct sunlight, high temperature and high humidity

๐Ÿงช Incompatible Materials

Conductive materials, water, seawater, strong oxidizers and strong acids

๐Ÿ’จ Hazardous Decomposition Products

Acid or harmful fume is emitted during fire.

Ecological Information & Environmental Impact
