First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Not applicable.

Symptoms: Not applicable.

Skin contact

Wash abundant with water and soap. Remove contaminated clothes. When exposed to hot vegetable oil, rinse 15 minutes with lukewarm water. Removing of the polluted clothes and rinse the skin abundant with lukewarm water and soap.

Symptoms: Possibility of burns after contact with vegetable oil. The above risk increases if vegetable oil with elevated temperature comes in contact with water (varicose effect).

Eye contact

Flush eyes with clean water with open eyelids for at least 10 minutes or until the irritation decreases. If the irritation persists, consult the ophthalmologist.

Symptoms: irritation

Ingestion

Not applicable because it is a food product.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam, CO2, extinguishing powder.

Unsuitable media

Water.

Specific hazards

Reacts violently with water (foam/varicose formation).

Instructions

The packaging / devices that are exposed to the heat => cool off with water spray. Be sure that there is no direct contact between the water and the product.

Firefighter Protection

Possibility using of independent breathing protection.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

When product ends up on the road (ex. Public road) the vegetable fatty acid should be immediately removed by using brush and shovel. The road need to be closed immediately for the works and the emergency services have to be warned. When product ends up in the sewel, the sewel events have to be sealed immediately.

Environmental

Avoid the product ends up in water management.

Cleanup methods

Using absorbing material. The absorbing material needs to be drained to the roller container for business waste. When product ends up on the road (ex. Public road) the vegetable fatty acid should be immediately removed by using brush and shovel.

Materials: absorbing material

Stability and Reactivity

Chemical stability, hazardous reactions, and incompatible materials

Stability

Stable product. Becomes rancid when exposed to air, light and elevated temperature.

Hazardous reactions

Formation of Acrolein with thermal decomposition (from 350 ° c).

Avoid

Contact between vegetable oil which is heated and water.

Incompatible

No specific chemical reactions known.

Decomposition

Thermal decomposition of the vegetable oil leads to formation of Acrolein. At high temperatures the vegetable oil gets more rancid so the self-ignition temperature drops.
