First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove patient from exposure to fresh air, rest and keep warm in a position comfortable for breathing. If breathing has stopped, apply artificial respiration. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist

Symptoms: No known significant effects or hazards.

Skin contact

Flush immediately with plenty of water, seek medical advice if Irritation persists. Remove any contaminated clothing, shoes, jewellery and wash before reuse.

Symptoms: May cause skin dryness and irritation/May cause an allergen reaction

Eye contact

Immediately flush eye with water or standard eye wash solution for at least 15 minutes. Remove any contact lenses. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

Symptoms: Causes serious eye irritation

Ingestion

Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. If patient is conscious, give water to drink. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

Symptoms: No known significant effects or critical hazards.

Immediate Medical Attention

None expected, see section 4.1 for further information

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

CO₂, foam, dry chemical or skilled use of water spray.

Unsuitable media

Do not use water jet.

Specific hazards

In a fire or if heated, a substance or mixture pressure increase will occur and the container may burst, with the risk of a subsequent explosion. Bursting aerosol containers may be propelled from a fire at high speed. Beware of exploding cans.

Instructions

Standard procedure for chemical fires.

Firefighter Protection

Self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Evacuate surrounding areas. Remove all ignition sources. Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Small spill

Stop leak if without risk. Move containers from spill area. Dilute with water and mop up if water-soluble.

Large spill

Stop leak without risk. Move containers from spill area. Approach the release from upwind. Prevent entry to sewers, water courses, basements or confined areas. Absorb spillage with non-combustible, absorbent material e.g sand, earth, vermiculite or diatomaceous earth and place in container for disposal according to local regulations. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.

Environmental

Avoid dispersal of split material and contact with soil, waterways, drains, and sewers.

Cleanup methods

Dilute with water and mop up if water-soluble (small spill). Absorb spillage with non-combustible, absorbent material (large spill).

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Put on appropriate personal protective equipment (see section 8). Wear appropriate respirator when ventilation is inadequate. Do not ingest. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid breathing gas, vapour or mist. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not pierce or burn, even after use... Use explosion-proof electrical (ventilating, lighting and material handling) equipment. Use only non-sparkling tools. Empty containers retain product residue and can be hazardous.

Storage

Pressurised container: protect from sunlight and do not exposure to temperature exceeding 50°C. Store away from direct sunlight in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials (see section 10), food and drink. Store and use away from heat, sparks, open flame or any other ignition source. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.

Fire prevention

Store and use away from heat, sparks, open flame or any other ignition source.
