04

First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Skin contact

Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water as soon as reasonably practicable. Remove heavily contaminated clothing and wash underlying skin.

Symptoms: For high pressure injections: tissue becomes swollen, discolored and extremely painful with extensive subcutaneous necrosis.

Eye contact

Wash eye thoroughly with copious quantities of water, ensuring eyelids are held open. Obtain medical advice if any pain or redness develops or persists.

Symptoms: pain or redness

Ingestion

If contamination of the mouth occurs, wash out thoroughly with water. Do not induce vomiting; obtain medical advice.

Immediate Medical Attention

Injections through the skin, resulting from contact with the product at high pressure, constitute a major medical emergency.

Medical Treatment

Treatment should in general be symptomatic and directed to relieving any effects. Surgical exploration should be undertaken without delay. Thorough and extensive debridement of the wound and underlying tissue is necessary to minimize tissue loss and prevent or limit permanent damage.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use foam, dry powder or water fog.

Unsuitable media

DO NOT USE water jets.

Specific hazards

Toxic fumes may be evolved on burning or exposure to heat.

Instructions

Water may be used to cool nearby heat exposed areas/objects/packages. Avoid spraying directly into storage containers because of the danger of boil-over.

Firefighter Protection

Fires in confined spaces should be dealt with by trained personnel wearing approved breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Large spill

In the case of large spills contact the appropriate authorities.

Environmental

Protect environmentally sensitive areas and water supplies.

Cleanup methods

Recover product from the surface.

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with eyes. If splashing is likely to occur wear a full face visor or chemical goggles as appropriate. Avoid frequent or prolonged skin contact with fresh or used product.

Storage

Store under cover and protect from heat and sources of ignition. Keep containers closed when not in use.

Hygiene

Good working practices, high standards of personal hygiene and plant cleanliness must be maintained at all times. Wash hands thoroughly after contact. Use disposable cloths and discard when soiled. Do not put soiled cloths into pockets.

Fire prevention

Product contaminated rags, paper or material used to absorb spillage, represent a fire hazard, and should not be allowed to accumulate. Dispose of safely immediately after use.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure good ventilation. If vapor, mists or fumes are generated, their concentration in the workplace air should be controlled to the lowest reasonably practicable level.

Hands

If skin contact is likely, wear impervious protective clothing and/or gloves.

Eyes

Wear face visor or goggles in circumstances where eye contact can accidentally occur.

Respiratory

Respiratory protection is unnecessary, provided the concentration or vapor, mists or fumes is adequately controlled. The use of respiratory equipment must be strictly in accordance with the manufactures' instructions and any statutory requirements governing its selection and use.

Skin/Body

If skin contact is likely, wear impervious protective clothing and/or gloves.
