First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove to fresh air, keep the patient warm and at rest. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. Give nothing by mouth. If unconscious, place in the recovery position and seek medical advice.

Symptoms: None expected under normal handling and usage

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water or use a proprietary skin cleaner. Do NOT use solvents or thinners.

Symptoms: None expected under normal handling and usage. For particularly sensitive individuals Skin contact may provoke the following symptoms: Allergic reactions, Redness. Repeated or prolonged contact with the product may lead to removal of natural fats from the skin resulting in non-allergic contact dermatitis and absorption through the skin.

Eye contact

Contact lenses should be removed. Irrigate copiously with clean, fresh water for at least 15 minutes, and seek medical advice.

Symptoms: None expected under normal handling and usage. Splashes in the eyes may cause irritation and reversible local damage.

Ingestion

If accidentally swallowed, obtain immediate medical attention. Keep at rest. Do not induce vomiting.

Symptoms: None expected under normal handling and usage

Immediate Medical Attention

If accidentally swallowed, obtain immediate medical attention. In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

Unsuitable media

water jet

Specific hazards

Degree of Risk of fire – LOW (Flash point > 100 °C). Fire will produce dense black smoke.

Instructions

Cool containers exposed to fire with water.

Firefighter Protection

Appropriate self-contained breathing apparatus may be required.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Exclude sources of ignition and provide adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing of vapours.

Small spill

Contain and collect small spillages with non-combustible absorbent materials e.g. sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth and place in a suitable container for disposal in accordance with the local waste regulations

Environmental

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Keep the container tightly closed. Exclude sources of heat, sparks and open flame. Avoid skin and eye contact. Avoid inhalation of vapour and spray mist. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in areas of storage and use. Never use pressure to empty the container. The container is not a pressure vessel. Always keep in containers made of the same material as the supplied container.

Storage

Store between 4 and 30 degrees C in a dry, well ventilated place away from sources of heat, ignition and direct sunlight. No smoking. Prevent unauthorised access. Containers which are opened should be properly resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Store separately from oxidising agents and strongly alkaline and strongly acidic materials.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in areas of storage and use.

Fire prevention

Exclude sources of heat, sparks and open flame. No smoking.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

For prolonged or repeated use or for individuals with high skin sensitivity wear protective gloves. Advice should be sought from glove suppliers on appropriate types. Barrier creams may help to protect exposed areas of the skin. They should not be applied once exposure has occurred.

Eyes

Safety glasses with side shields to protect against liquid splashes

Respiratory

None normally required.

Skin/Body

Suitable protective clothing should be worn.
