First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. In case of respiratory tract irritation, consult a physician. Provide fresh air.

Symptoms: Respiratory complaints

Skin contact

Wash immediately with: Water and soap In case of skin irritation, consult a physician.

Eye contact

In case of contact with eyes flush immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart and consult an ophthalmologist.

Ingestion

Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Let water be drunken in little sips (dilution effect).

Immediate Medical Attention

In case of accident or unwellness, seek medical advice immediately.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

alcohol resistant foam, ABC-powder, Extinguishing blanket

Unsuitable media

High power water jet

Specific hazards

In case of fire may be liberated: Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Instructions

Do not inhale explosion and combustion gases.

Firefighter Protection

Use suitable breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Ensure waste is collected and contained.

Cleanup methods

Absorb with liquid-binding material (e.g. sand, diatomaceous earth, acid- or universal binding agents).

Materials: sand, diatomaceous earth, acid- or universal binding agents

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Inhalation of vapours or spray/mists. Skin contact. Eye contact. Only use the material in places where open light, fire and other flammable sources can be kept away. Handle and open container with care. Keep away from sources of ignition. - No smoking. When using do not eat, drink, smoke, sniff.

Storage

Keep only in the original container in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Ensure adequate ventilation of the storage area. Restrict access to stockrooms. Protect against Heat. UV-radiation/sunlight.

Hygiene

When using do not eat, drink, smoke, sniff.

Fire prevention

Keep away from sources of ignition. - No smoking. Vapours are heavier than air, spread along floors and form explosive mixtures with air. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Provide earthing of containers, equipment, pumps and ventilation facilities.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

If technical exhaust or ventilation measures are not possible or insufficient, respiratory protection must be worn. (Implied: technical exhaust or ventilation are engineering measures)

Hands

Work must be executed in such a way that no or only short term exposure to skin may occur. Use protective gloves in accordance with EN 374. Please observe the intended use instructions and permeation times of the glove manufacturer! The indicated permeation times are valid for full contact activities. Full contact gloves should offer permeation times over 120 minutes. Gloves with shorter permeation times are only suitable for short term contact. Contaminated gloves should be disposed of immediately, splattered gloves should be disposed of after the maximum wear time has been reached, at the latest at the end of the work shift. Suggested gloves: For long, intense, or multiple contact suitable material: laminate film, e.g. Barrier made by Ansell or comparable products. Material thickness: > 0,052 mm. Permeation time > 480 minutes

Eyes

Eye glasses with side protection

Respiratory

If technical exhaust or ventilation measures are not possible or insufficient, respiratory protection must be worn. Respiratory protection necessary at: exceeding exposure limit values. Suitable respiratory protection apparatus: Combination filtering device (EN 14387)

Skin/Body

Required properties antistatic. Recommended material Natural fibres (e.g. cotton)
