First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If difficulties occur after vapour/aerosol has been inhaled, remove to fresh air and seek medical attention.

Skin contact

Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Obtain medical attention if soreness or redness persists. If skin irritation or rash occurs, get medical advice/attention.

Symptoms: Soreness, redness, skin irritation, or rash.

Eye contact

Immediately flood the eye with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, holding the eye open. Remove contact lenses if possible. Obtain medical attention.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water. Obtain medical attention if symptoms appear or if large quantities have been ingested.

Immediate Medical Attention

In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention. If skin irritation or rash occurs, get medical advice/attention.

Medical Treatment

Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Self-contained breathing apparatus with full-face mask and full protective clothing (standard wear).

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Keep unnecessary people away; isolate hazard area and deny entry. Stay up wind and keep out of low areas where vapour may accumulate and ignite.

Small spill

Pick up with suitable absorbent material.

Large spill

Pump off product.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Store in tightly closed containers in cool, dry, isolated, well-ventilated area. Avoid inhaling vapour. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Suitable equipment for dealing with fires, spills and leaks must be readily available. Earth all equipment. Use explosion protected electrical equipment and lighting. Do not smoke eat or drink in areas of use and storage. Use closed-system transfers wherever possible. Earth (ground) lines and equipment used during transfer to reduce possibility of static spark initiated fire or explosion

Storage

cool, dry, well ventilated, out of direct sunlight and separated from oxidants and strong mineral acids. Store in original containers. Storage should be closed.

Hygiene

Do not eat, drink and smoke in work areas. Wash hands after use. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

Fire prevention

Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Earth all equipment. Use explosion protected electrical equipment and lighting. Earth (ground) lines and equipment used during transfer to reduce possibility of static spark initiated fire or explosion. Store away from sources of heat or ignition.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Hands

Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374) Suitable materials short-term contact and/or splashes (recommended: At least protective index 2, corresponding > 30 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374) - butyl rubber (butyl) - 0.7 mm coating thickness - nitrile rubber (NBR) - 0.4 mm coating thickness - Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing. - Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.

Eyes

Safety goggles.

Respiratory

Suitable respiratory protection for higher concentrations or long-term effect: Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds (boiling point >65 °C, e. g. EN 14387 Type A).

Skin/Body

Standard work wear and safety boots for normal handling and use.

Environmental

Avoid discharge into the environment. According to local regulations, Federal and official regulations.
