First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Move to fresh air.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Wash clothing before reuse. Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Eye contact

Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist. Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.

Symptoms: Causes serious eye irritation.

Ingestion

Keep respiratory tract clear. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If symptoms persist, call a physician. DO NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by a physician or poison control center.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention immediately.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Alcohol-resistant foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry chemical, Water spray

Unsuitable media

High volume water jet

Specific hazards

Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Instructions

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Use a water spray to cool fully closed containers.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Use personal protective equipment. Remove all sources of ignition. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Beware of vapours accumulating to form explosive concentrations. Vapours can accumulate in low areas.

Environmental

Prevent product from entering drains. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains, inform respective authorities.

Cleanup methods

collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section 13).

Materials: non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid formation of aerosol. Do not breathe vapours or spray mist. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For personal protection see section 8. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms. Open drum carefully as content may be under pressure. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

Storage

No smoking. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. Electrical installations / working materials must comply with the technological safety standards.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Fire prevention

No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

effective ventilation in all processing areas

Hands

Material: Protective gloves. Remarks: The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed with the producers of the protective gloves.

Eyes

Safety glasses. Access to clean water to rinse eyes must be available, options include: eye wash stations or showers, or eye wash bottles with pure water.

Respiratory

Use respiratory protection unless adequate local exhaust ventilation is provided or exposure assessment demonstrates that exposures are within recommended exposure guidelines.

Skin/Body

Impervious clothing. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.
