First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Symptoms: Shortness of breath, dry cough, and irritation of the nose and throat.

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.

Symptoms: Irritation, redness, pain, and rash.

Eye contact

Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist. In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Symptoms: Irritation of the eyes. Causes serious eye irritation.

Ingestion

Keep respiratory tract clear. Do NOT induce vomiting. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Take victim immediately to hospital.

Symptoms: Aspiration may cause pulmonary oedema and pneumonitis. May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.

Immediate Medical Attention

Take victim immediately to hospital.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Alcohol-resistant foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry chemical

Unsuitable media

High volume water jet

Specific hazards

Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Instructions

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Use a water spray to cool fully closed containers.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Beware of vapours accumulating to form explosive concentrations. Vapours can accumulate in low areas.

Environmental

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Cleanup methods

collect with non-combustible absorbent material

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid formation of aerosol. Do not breathe vapours/dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For personal protection see section 8. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Open drum carefully as content may be under pressure.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Fire prevention

Take precautionary measures against static discharges. No smoking.
