First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Provide fresh air. In case of respiratory tract irritation, consult a physician. In case of inhaling spray mist, consult a physician.

Skin contact

After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. Rub greasy ointment into the skin. In case of skin reactions, consult a physician. Do not wash with: Solvents/Thinner

Eye contact

In case of contact with eyes flush immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart and consult an ophthalmologist. Protect uninjured eye.

Ingestion

If accidentally swallowed rinse the mouth with plenty of water (only if the person is conscious) and obtain immediate medical attention.

Immediate Medical Attention

In case of accident or unwellness, seek medical advice immediately. Obtain immediate medical attention if swallowed.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

alcohol resistant foam, Water mist, Extinguishing powder

Unsuitable media

Full water jet

Specific hazards

In case of fire may be liberated: Nitrogen oxides (NOx) Carbon monoxide. Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Instructions

Co-ordinate fire-fighting measures to the fire surroundings. Do not inhale explosion and combustion gases. Use water spray jet to protect personnel and to cool endangered containers.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Suppress gases/vapours/mists with water spray jet. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Cover drains. Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil.

Cleanup methods

Take up mechanically.

Materials: liquid-binding material (e.g. sand, diatomaceous earth, acid- or universal binding agents)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

All work processes must always be designed so that the following is as low as possible: Inhalation of vapours or spray/mists. If handled uncovered, arrangements with local exhaust ventilation have to be used. It is recommended to design all work processes always so that the following is excluded: Skin contact Eye contact. Only use the material in places where open light, fire and other flammable sources can be kept away. Wear personal protection equipment (refer to section 8).

Storage

Keep/Store only in original container. Ensure adequate ventilation of the storage area. Floors should be impervious, resistant to liquids and easy to clean. Shafts and sewers must be protected from entry of the product. Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Heating causes rise in pressure with risk of bursting.

Hygiene

Always close containers tightly after the removal of product.

Fire prevention

Vapours are heavier than air, spread along floors and form explosive mixtures with air. Keep away from sources of heat (e.g. hot surfaces), sparks and open flames. Provide earthing of containers, equipment, pumps and ventilation facilities. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

Suitable material : Butyl caoutchouc (butyl rubber) Breakthrough time (maximum wearing time) : 240 Min. Thickness of the glove material : 0,7 +/- 0,1mm Recommended glove articles : z.B. KCL Butlojekt 0898 Manufacturer KCL GmbH, Industriepark Rhön, Am Kreuzacker, Eichenzell, Deutschland, Tel. +496659 87-300 Or comparable articles from other companies. Additional hand protection measures : Check leak tightness/impermeability prior to use. Do not wear gloves near rotary machines and tools. Wear cotton undermitten if possible. Take recovery periods for skin regeneration. Remark : For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves.

Eyes

Eye glasses with side protection goggles. Additional eye protection measures: In case of increased risk, additionally Face protection umbrella

Respiratory

Respiratory protection necessary at: exceeding exposure limit values insufficient ventilation insufficient exhaust. Suitable respiratory protection apparatus: Filtering device with filter or ventilator filtering device of type: A. Remark: The filter class must be suitable for the maximum contaminant concentration (gas/vapour/aerosol/particulates) that may arise when handling the product. If the concentration is exceeded, self-contained breathing apparatus must be used.

Skin/Body

Suitable protective clothing : Overall. Remark : Only wear fitting, comfortable and clean protective clothing. Barrier creams are not substitutes for body protection.
