First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Call a POISON CENTER/doctor if you feel unwell.

Symptoms: May cause drowsiness or dizziness.

Skin contact

Wash skin with mild soap and water. Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse.

Eye contact

In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water.

Ingestion

Do NOT induce vomiting. Get medical advice/attention.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Carbon dioxide. Dry chemical. Inert gas. Foam. Water spray. Water fog.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a heavy water stream.

Specific hazards

Flammable liquid and vapour. May form flammable/explosive vapour-air mixture.

Instructions

Exercise caution when fighting any chemical fire. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses. Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so.

Firefighter Protection

Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection. Use self-contained breathing apparatus. EN469.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Stop leak if safe to do so. Ventilate area.

Environmental

Avoid release to the environment.

Cleanup methods

Soak up spills with inert solids, such as clay or diatomaceous earth as soon as possible. Take up in non-combustible absorbent material and shove into container for disposal.

Materials: inert solids, such as clay or diatomaceous earth; non-combustible absorbent material

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

No open flames. No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Use only non-sparking tools. Avoid all eye and skin contact and do not breathe vapour and mist. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Store in dry, cool, well-ventilated area.

Hygiene

Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving work.

Fire prevention

No open flames. No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Use only non-sparking tools. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide local exhaust ventilation of closed transfer systems to minimize exposures.

Hands

None under normal use. It is a good industrial hygiene practice to minimize skin contact. Wear suitable gloves. rubber. EN 374

Eyes

Eye protection should only be necessary where liquid could be splashed or sprayed. EN 166

Respiratory

In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection. Use an approved respirator equipped with oil/mist cartridges. EN 12083
