First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration or give oxygen by trained personnel. Seek immediate medical attention.

Symptoms: temporary mechanical irritation of the nose, throat and respiratory tract.

Skin contact

Immediately wash skin with plenty of soap and water for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists.

Symptoms: irritating to skin

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for 15 to 20 minutes. Get medical attention, if irritation or symptoms of overexposure persists.

Symptoms: irritating to eyes

Ingestion

If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician or poison control centre immediately. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and gastrointestinal irritation.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Chose appropriate extinguishing media according to the surrounding area.

Unsuitable media

High power water jet.

Specific hazards

Decomposition of this product may yield oxides of boron and nitrogen (nitrogen oxides, e.g. $\mathrm{NO}_2$, $\mathrm{NO}_3$), irritating smoke and fumes, carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide ($\mathrm{CO}_2$), hydrogen chloride, ammonia, and oxides of magnesium, alumina and barium.

Instructions

Keep upwind.

Firefighter Protection

Wear special protective equipment for fire-fighters as self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective suit.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

For industrial use only. Handle with care. Wear personal protective equipment. Avoid generation and inhalation of dust or spray mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Do not use in areas without adequate ventilation. Wash hands and face after handling.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area away from sources of heat and incompatible materials. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Store locked up.

Hygiene

Wash hands and face after handling. Provide sufficient washing facilities.

Fire prevention

Product is not combustible. However, keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Refer to section 5.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide adequate ventilation at workplace. Use appropriate engineering control such as process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to control airborne levels below recommended exposure limits.

Hands

Wear appropriate, impervious gloves.

Eyes

Wear safety glasses with side shields.

Respiratory

If ventilation is not sufficient to effectively prevent build-up of dusts, appropriate respiratory protection must be provided (appropriate: respirator according to European Standard EN 149).

Skin/Body

Normal work clothing (long sleeved shirt, long pants and gloves) is recommended.

Environmental

Refer to section 6. No further action is necessary.
