First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, oxygen should be administered by qualified personnel. Move to fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.

Skin contact

Wipe off with paper towel or cloth. Rinse with running water and soap. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse. Discard any shoes or clothing items that cannot be decontaminated.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.

Ingestion

DO NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek medical attention immediately.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide. Water spray or fog.

Unsuitable media

Do not use direct water stream on burning liquid. A solid stream of water may scatter molten product. Do not use high volume water jet.

Specific hazards

Vapors are heavier than air and may travel along the ground or be moved by ventilation and subsequently ignited by heat, pilot lights or other ignition sources at locations distant from the material handling point. Closed containers may rupture (due to build up of pressure) when exposed to extreme heat.

Instructions

Keep unnecessary personnel away.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing, such as turn-out gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Use personal protection recommended in Section 8, isolate the hazard area and deny entry to unnecessary and unprotected personnel.

Environmental

Do not allow product to enter sewer or waterways.

Cleanup methods

Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Scrape up spilled material and place in a closed container for disposal.

Materials: inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Remove all sources of ignition. Use only with adequate ventilation. Use only in area provided with appropriate exhaust ventilation. Vapours should be extracted to avoid inhalation. Prevent contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Do not breathe vapor and mist. Wash thoroughly after handling. Wear suitable protective clothing, safety glasses and gloves. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Do not taste or swallow. Avoid any condition that will suspend or float powder particles in the air creating a dust cloud. Reduce all potential of static electrical discharge through bonding and grounding. Avoid dust formation. Keep away from heat, spark and flame. Avoid spraying/aerosol generation. Keep container tightly sealed.

Storage

Keep in a cool, well ventilated area away from heat, sparks and open flame. Keep container tightly closed until ready for use. Store in a dry place. Avoid moisture. Store in original container until ready to use. Keep out of direct sunlight.

Hygiene

Wash thoroughly after handling. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Do not taste or swallow.

Fire prevention

Remove all sources of ignition. Keep away from heat, spark and flame. Reduce all potential of static electrical discharge through bonding and grounding.
