Handling

Avoid airborne dust generation. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where airborne dust is generated. Other suitable controls may include enclosure, isolation, water suppression, respiratory protective equipment. Handle packaged products carefully to prevent accidental bursting. Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Minimise airborne dust generation. Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep airborne levels below specified exposure limits. If user operations generate dust, fumes or mist, use ventilation to keep exposure to airborne particles below the exposure limit. Apply organisational measures, e.g. by isolating personnel from dusty areas.

Hands

Wear protective gloves (Blasting agent, concrete). All other uses: None under normal use. Appropriate protection (e.g. gloves, barrier cream) is recommended for workers who suffer from dermatitis or sensitive skin. Wash hands at the end of each work session. See annex for more detailed information. Protective gloves (Concrete): Nitrile rubber (NBR), Permeation: 6 (> 480 minutes), Thickness: 0.35 mm, Standard: EN 374. Protective gloves against mechanical risks (Blasting agent, Open systems): Leather, Standard: EN 388.

Eyes

Wear safety glasses with side-shields in circumstances where there is a risk of penetrative eye injuries. In case of dust production: protective goggles. Safety goggles (Dust), Standard: EN 166.

Respiratory

In case of prolonged exposure to airborne dust concentrations, wear a respiratory protective equipment that complies with the requirements of European or national legislation. See annex for more detailed information. Worker in control room with clean air supply (Blasting agent). Full face mask, Supplied-Air Respirator (SAR), Type P2/P3 (Blasting agents, Open systems), Standard: EN 12942, EN 143. Full face mask, Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) (Blasting agents, In case of excessive dust production), Standard: EN 137. Half-face mask, Type P2/P3 (Short term exposure, In the event of insufficient ventilation), Standard: EN 140, EN 143.
