First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove from exposure, lie down. Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

Symptoms: Difficulty in breathing. Inhalation of high vapor concentrations may cause symptoms like headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea and vomiting

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Water spray. Carbon dioxide (CO₂). Dry chemical. Chemical foam. Water mist may be used to cool closed containers.

Unsuitable media

No information available

Specific hazards

Flammable. Containers may explode when heated. Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. Vapors may travel to source of ignition and flash back.

Firefighter Protection

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Do not let this chemical enter the environment. See Section 12 for additional Ecological Information.

Cleanup methods

Soak up with inert absorbent material. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment.

Materials: inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not breathe mist/vapors/spray. Avoid contact with skin and clothing. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Do not ingest. If swallowed then seek immediate medical assistance. Handle product only in closed system or provide appropriate exhaust ventilation. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment. Use only non-sparking tools. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. To avoid ignition of vapors by static electricity discharge, all metal parts of the equipment must be grounded. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Storage

Keep in a dry place. Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Refrigerator/flammables. Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. - No smoking. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Hygiene

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not ingest.

Fire prevention

Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Use spark-proof tools. Use only non-sparking tools. All metal parts of the equipment must be grounded. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use explosion-proof electrical/ventilating/lighting equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.

Hands

Wear appropriate protective gloves

Eyes

Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles as described by OSHA's eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166.

Respiratory

No protective equipment is needed under normal use conditions.

Skin/Body

Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
